What's New

:: at wide receiver, Theo Riddick is apparently back, but Duval Kamara is not playing for undisclosed personal reasons; Kumara still was listed as a starter on the last Notre Dame depth chart for one of the three wide receiver positions; T.J. Jones apparently is healthy, joining Michael Floyd, Robby Toma, and John Goodman

So Michael Floyd is listed with 6-4 freshman Daniel Smith as a back-up, with John Goodman and T.J. Jones listed in a spot previously held by Kamara. Riddick and Toma are listed for another WR position, with T.J. Jones down in that spot as well, at least before Kamara's unexpected departure.

:: at running back Cierre Wood is still listed at starter, with big Robert Hughes and Jonas Gray listed as co-back-ups; but expect a bit of running back by committee, especially with Notre Dame not wanting to put the game on the freshman quarterback's shoulders against a ferocious Miami pass defense

:: on the defensive line, mammoth nose guard Ian Williams apparently is not only back, but starting; and Ian Williams' return seems to have prompted a reshuffling, with Sean Cwynar also in the two-deep at NG and Hafis Williams going back to DE;

:: at safety, senior Chris Salvi is now listed in the two-deep

:: at linebacker Steve Filer is listed in the two-deep again, at OLB; Brian Smith continues to be listed as a starter at ILB, and All American Manti Te'o continues to pace the linebacker corps

:: on special teams, All American David Ruffer continues handling placekicks and kickoffs; Bennett Jackson and Austin Collinsworth continue to be listed as kick returners, and if they also continue to serve as gunners they could be tackling their own kick-return counterparts, just the old days of playing both ways

Notre Dame continues running a spread offense and 3-4 defense.

Miami has a pro set offense and 4-3 defense.
