Amidst the snow-covered Franklin Mountains of west Texas and the rare air of El Paso's 3800-foot elevation, Notre Dame woke up the echoes with a 33-17 trouncing of Miami in the 2010 Hyundai Sun Bowl, the teams' first meeting since the electrifying rivalry last hit the gridiron in 1990.

It is the 77th Sun Bowl, and the 24th meeting between Notre Dame and Miami of Florida, but the first meeting between the two teams since 1990.

:: Notre Dame Beats Southern Cal; Fighting Irish Topple Trojans 20-16 at the Coliseum in Wild Finish in the RainTrailing 16-13 late in the fourth quarter, Notre Dame drove 77 yards on 7 plays in the rain to go up 20-14 on a 5-yard touchdown run by Robert Hughes with 2:23 remaining. Notre Dame walk-on kicker David Ruffer has been named one of three finalists for the Lou Groza Award, given annually to the best college kicker. Ruffer is the only kicker in Div. I-A/FBS to still be a perfect 100% on field goals this year, going 15 of 15 with a long of 50. He also is on a school record streak of 20-field goals made in a row and counting, dating back to 2009.
