Notre Dame Football Recruiting 2011 - Updated Oct. 6, 2010
Notre Dame Football 2011 Recruiting Ranked #2 as of Oct. 6, 2010
Scout.com ranks Notre Dame #12 nationally for its 2011 recruiting class as of Oct. 6, 2010. Rivals.com has ranked Notre Dame #16.
Be cautioned, however, that in the past there have been instances where these media services have ranked Notre Dame lower based upon other schools overloading on lower-ranked recruits, when Notre Dame actually had a higher ranking, even top-10, when measured man-by-man.
Total commitments and positions: As of Nov. 5, 2010, Notre Dame has 16 verbal commitments for 2011 ... one 5-star TE; three DE's (one 4-star DE, and two 3-star DE); two OT's (one 4-star and one 3-star OT recruits); one 4-star OG; two outside LB's (4-star and 3-star); two 4-star safeties; two 3-star CB's plus a 3-star CB/Athlete (with 4.5 speed); and a 3-star kicker (with a booming leg and good accuracy, who actually had been headed to Michigan, changed his mind, and also had been looking to graduate early, and enroll early for the fall, but Notre Dame would not admit a 17-year-old who finished high school in three years)
Geography: Thus far, the Irish have 8 commitments from student-athletes in warm-weather states from the mid-Atlantic to the West Coast, with multiple commitments California (2) and North Carolina (2), as well as commitments from from Florida, Texas, New Mexico and Georgia.
Notre Dame also has been strong in the Midwestern Rust Belt, with 7 recruits from Ohio (3), Michigan (1), Pennsylvania, Illinois and Indiana, also securing a 9th seasonal-weather-state recruit from Connecticut.
