What's New

:: Notre Dame junior tight end Kyle Rudolph, the best in college football, is out for the season and underwent hamstring surgery Friday, Rudolph had been recovering from some hamstring trouble and getting his receptions back up a bit, when he suffered additional injury later in the Pitt game. Tyler Eifert, himself coming off a shoulder injury, will apparently start against the Broncos; Jake Golic and Mike Ragone also might be factors.

:: Notre Dame senior running back Armando Allen is a game-day "maybe" to play, based upon how he feels during warm-ups; sophomore running back Cierre Wood is expected to play more, and big Notre Dame senior heavy-halfback/former fullback Robert Hughes remains in the mix at running back. Notre Dame, under Kelly, has tended to use two running backs in a game, while throwing to around seven receivers, including running backs and tight ends.

:: the Notre Dame offensive line apparently is shuffling a bit, as in the Pitt game, due to injury; because of the injury of RT Taylor Dever, LT Zach Martin moves to right tackle, and apparent Matt Romine would start at left tackle, with Andrew Nuss also in the rotation, most likely at RT; Brian Kelly has been known for cross-training offensive linemen and spotting the best ways to rotate to optimize overall team impact. Center Dan Wenger is out for the season, with Braxton Cave stepping in at center.

:: Western Michigan has some smallish running backs, with a 5-6 starter, and 5-8 and 5-4 players mixed into the depth chart; but the Broncos have some huge offensive linemen, with multiple players on the O-Line over 300

:: The Broncos defense is also a bit smallish, except they have some big defensive tackles.
