(this poll is the sole basis for the BCS claiming to name a mythical national champion; it used to be one of the polls that named an unofficial national champion, then BCS contracted with it so that it is required to name the winner of a particular BCS poll as its mythical national champion; ironically, as a result, the Coaches Poll technically no longer actually selects a national champion; by being required to name the winner of a particular bowl game national champion, the Coaches Poll voters themselves do not actually select a final #1; there is no final coaches "poll" for national champion any more, just a rubber-stamping and lending of a logo of sorts to the BCS result
